Workshop on critical thinking in Bharathanatyam for dancers How are the many ways of understanding a performance or a text? How do we review a performance? How can we be critical in that? When can I start being critical? Do I even have the right to be critical? What really is critical? Why is criticality important? What questions are important to ask? What does critical work mean? How can we start creating critical work in Bharathanatyam? What can Bharathanatyam do in 2022? How can we participate in the evolution of the form and the community?    Open to practitioners with a minimum experience of 1 year. Also open to academics, researchers and artists interested in an inter-disciplinary collaboration with Bharathanatyam. 

Art is made from observation, memory and imagination. Maja Express cultivates these in children through multisensory and immersive learning. The workshop will give children an agency to create something of their own with instruction, to develop independent thinking and reflection where the outcome need not be perfect. The workshop will focus on exploring and experimenting movement-theatre along with art & craft and build on skills of observation, imagination, abstraction, creative and alternate thinking, communication,  self-expression, self – discovery, self – critiquing, visual art,  performance art..
